Ventura County Shelter
The Society runs a winter shelter in Oxnard or Ventura from December first to March 31 each year to warm and protect individuals living on the streets in the cold and rainy winter months. This program is solely a sheltering program that provides basic support to individuals on a nightly basis with a bed and hot meals.
This program operates from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and provides transportation to the shelter site; intake, case-management and referral services; dinner; showers; television entertainment; cots or air mattresses for sleeping; blankets that are assigned to each client and laundered weekly; a light breakfast; and transportation to a drop-off site.
The Society partners with community groups to provide a health van, case management, and other supportive services to our clients at these shelters.
Future plans are underway with the Ventura community to provide other sheltering and housing programs for the county’s homeless. For information please contact us at 213-229-9971 or socialservices@svdpla.org.
